Storage Pre-Sales Engineer

As a Storage Pre-Sales Engineer at IceWEB Storage you will work with the Storage Sales team to uncover, develop and close storage opportunities, as well as helping to develop and implement sales strategies and plans. You will provide hands-on expertise for complex or emerging storage products and solutions.
You will also work closely with product engineering to provide beta support and feedback of critical needs and with marketing to provide competitive information and technical expertise in specific emerging storage solutions that can be leveraged across multiple sales segments.
Your background will have made you knowledgeable of:
- A number of Operating System platforms including Windows, Unix (Solaris/Open Solaris a plus) and Linux and how each performs in a NAS environment
- Multiple backup and recovery technologies (Cloning, Snapshots)
- Advanced disk subsystem configuration (Raid level implementations, BCV’s)
- Competitive understanding of many Operating System platforms including Windows, Unix and Linux and how each performs in a NAS environment of 2+ disk subsystems (EMC’ CLARiiON & various NAS systems)
- Working knowledge of multiple disk/ switch vendors (Cisco & Brocade)
- Volume Manager, Storage Foundation, Clustering
- Advanced performance analysis of disk subsystems
- Components of NAS & SAN attached storage to include device drivers, microcode levels, fiber channel adapters.
- Data center operations, SLA management, and Change Management
- Networking technologies (TCP/IP WAN environment is a plus)
- Diagnosis and resolution of technical problems and ability to speak fluently to management regarding solutions and options for problem resolution.
- Ability to work closely with a variety of customers including; Infrastructure technical resources, Application technical resources, end users, and resellers’ and integration partners’ sales/infrastructure professionals.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise in solution design and architecture
- Provide leadership in storage area for RFP responses and large/complex programs and opportunities
- Support strategic opportunities in Government and Commercial Accounts
- Lead pre-sales technical solution integration where appropriate
- Provide technical expertise in specific emerging storage solutions that is leveraged across multiple sales segments.
- Recommend and implement complex solutions in multi-vendor environments as part of a proof of concept engagement.
- Continually enhance product and associated solutions knowledge as new products are introduced
- Provide beta support & engineering feedback of critical needs; provide competitive & enhancement feedback to Sales and Product Engineering
- Support sales at storage events and conferences
- Work closely with the field account teams on identifying and prioritizing opportunities on sales forecasts
Requirements
- Minimum of five years experience in a technical Pre-Sales role selling enterprise storage products
- Proven experience in and detailed knowledge of enterprise storage solutions (HP, Dell, IBM, Sun)
- Sound technical knowledge (UNIX, Windows 200x, Networking, Hardware, mission Critical- High Availability Concepts – backup & recovery, )
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal required
- Strong technical sales & negotiation skills
- Ability to present technical proposals persuasively
- Capable of quickly switching between strategic and tactical sales opportunities
- Excellent team skills
- Must be a US Citizen — a TS/SCI level clearance is a major plus
- Bachelor’s (undergraduate) degree or equivalent experience preferably in a technical field
- Travel Percentage: 30%
